Turf suppliers will claim that it is a very low-maintenance grass and conserved without significant maintenance. The fact is that even buffalo grass also requires a good amount of maintenance, and the steps included in this process are discussed below.

MOWING

Turf suppliers recommend mowing buffalo grass with a cylinder mower or a rotary mower. To keep it looking good and healthy throughout the year, regular mowing is recommended to a height of between 25 and 50 mm. This height can be increased between 50 and 70 mm if it is installed in a shaded or high-traffic area.

WATERING RELATED INSTRUCTIONS

Every buffalo turf, including palmetto buffalo, will need water immediately after it has been installed. In this situation, 25 mm of water is required, and it is also essential to keep the grass moist during the establishment period of 2 to 4 weeks. If some signs of drying out are visible, you should immediately increase the amount of water to be given to the turf. It will take eight weeks to establish, and once this period is over, you can reduce watering significantly, but deep watering is required anyway. Experts also recommend leaving longer periods in between watering to train your lawn to have deeper roots and use them in drought-like situations. This will become more drought-tolerant, stronger, and healthier.
